Event Review – Mar 6 Startups & WOW
On Mar 6, about 90 people gathered at Ritz Carlton Hotel in Beijing to attend the Stars with a WOW Networking Evening. It was an evening that celebrated 5 years of networking events in Beijing and included the First Annual WOW Awards (WOnderful Outstanding Woman). The evening was also for Start-ups, Real Estate, Global Mobility, Health & Wellness, Hospitality & Tourism, Green Tech, NGOs, NPOs, Expat Services and Social Media.
We were honoured to have the presence of Meixin Lee and Leslie Simpson both of whom are WOWs and were awarded Certificates.
Meixin Lee, the founder of Gift of Hope, has established a social enterprise that is owned and managed by people with disabilities and empowers the disabled community.
Leslie Simpson , the founder of Roundabout Charity Distribution Store, has established a social enterprise run by volunteers which acts as a central donation centre for 48 charities in Beijing and many more throughout China. Leslie emailed us to say ….
Just a little note to say a huge thanks to you for a wonderful evening, I met some amazing people – MeiXin, whom I had been planning to contact for several months now, and some other people from different charities that we plan on offering support to in the near future.
Also of course a very big thanks for being given the accolade of a “WOW ” and for all the beautiful gifts – which in true Roundabout style we will put in the pot and do a lucky draw to see which volunteer wins them, they will be thrilled.
Thank you for organizing such a great night.
Audrey Li, the founder of UpperBeijing.com also introduced her idea of starting UpperBeijing to bring better expat house searching experience in Beijing.
Leo, the CEO of EyeSmart also attened. EyeSmart is a start-up company based in Beijing, providing leading Iris Recognition core technology (patented) and Next Generation Security solutions.
We wish to thank Cindy Hu of the Harmonicare Women and Children’s Hospital and Jilly Li of Dragonfly (Sanlitun) for the prizes they awared the WOW recipients.
We are always happy to see people with great ideas, cool tech or inspirational life stories at our events, becasue we believe, that a networking event does not end when you say goodbye to others, it is only the beginning for a new business, a new idea, or another great course. Empower your life and many others by learning from people and echo it in your life.
